This time on Model Citizens, we wanted to put the focus on one of our favorite couples on Pornhub, Danika Mori and her partner Steve. They've come a long way since their camming days and even won the Top Anal Performer award at last year's Pornhub Awards.

Tell us a bit about your upbringing and how you got to where you are in life?
We both graduated from high school and left university. Steve has a background in science and I studied humanistic education. He started using a computer at the age of 4, and I must say, his knowledge had a huge influence on the technical decisions we had to make as content producers. As for me, my attitude and background helped me understand the different dynamics within the online community and the relationships I’ve fostered with the people I come in contact with.
What really helped us grow and succeed is the desire to learn, to do better, and not dwell on the ideas and perceptions others have about us as individuals or as a couple. If you choose to do something, then do it. It’s the only way you’ll know how far you can go with it.
What influenced you to join the industry?
One day, Steve told me about a webcam site and since we already used to watch porn together and record ourselves sometimes, it didn’t take long for me to decide to try my first live show alone. It happened the next day and that same evening, we also did a live show together. I felt a bit anxious about it the first few times, but it was still something I wanted to do.
From that moment, I started broadcasting regularly for 4 years, 2 of which we did as a couple. We also managed to win the first prize for the greatest number of views for 24 months in a row. Our legendary nickname was "redliight17," which was rather trivial, but marked by our lucky number!
Since we were already Pornhub viewers, we noticed the Model Payment Program and were curious about it. How has it affected your personal life?
Porn definitely changed my life for the better regardless of some prejudices and rumors about me in my original city. In this specific case, it is not only porn, but also the web world that has changed my life.
The thing I wanted most was to free myself from the emotional blockages that were raging in my sex life. In fact, just when we started to do live webcam, I confessed to my partner that in the last few years, I was masturbating several times a day thinking of him without having the courage to tell him. At that moment, he asked me, "Why? I would have been very pleased to know." So really, the live cam acted as sort of a shock therapy for me, which is why I wanted to try it. I’m also very lucky to be on this journey with my partner.
What do you accredit your success to?
Without a doubt, it was the timing! Starting on webcam in 2012 and uploading my content to Pornhub in 2016 rather than today has undoubtedly given me greater visibility. It gave us a good start, but the way we interact as a couple and my attitude toward sex are also big factors.

How do you use the features on Pornhub and Modelhub to your advantage?
In general, I try to keep a balance between the different premium contents that my fans have which include Snapchat, custom videos, Fan Clubs, live shows, and video downloads.
First off, I try to make it clear to my fans the advantages between subscription prices with my Fan Club and the occasional download. I like to have a closer relationship with my fans, so I reward their loyalty as much as I can. I like to satisfy their wishes through custom videos so my base price is not very high. I believe that content based on a personal request has an extra value and deserves attention.
